...well, I'll be damned...

Seems like, contrary to what I recently had to post in last comments here, I was actually able to get into this blogspot after all. It wasn't easy, but it could be done.

So... having that cleared, another logical question pops up. What do I use this blog for now?
As I can see, there's NOT a lot to contribute with - most rare stuff are definately 'flying around' out there, in one way or another.
And there's some REALLY good and devoted bloggers out there with an unbelievable vault of historical rock access and an impressive stamina and service beyond belief. A big salute to you all! You kept it coming. And coming.

For a start, I think I'll use this new access to enter the comments and give all participators a big thank, and some answers where that's possible and needed.

Again, all my old visitors - a BIG thank you for makin' blogging such great fun to do. You made this site.

I can't promise much from here. I've tried that before. So I'll just keep my eyes and ears open and we'll see where that brings us... ok!?

I'LL BE BACK!

If there's still anyone out there dropping by, I just want to say that I will be back blogging soon. Not tomorrow, maybe not even this week, but soon anyway compared to the last time I wrote a word in here.
Sorry all, for not replying and commenting your great comments. It's a long story. Sort of.
I'll answer you all.

I hope some of you are still out there.
After some changes IRL situation, I haven't got quite the good sound in my rip from vinyl setup yet. But I'm working on it. Last time I managed quite well, but now I can't find out what's NOT right.

So my first blog, 'soon', will be rare found stuff or cd's from the vault.

Again, a BIG sorry for not being able to keep up my work here.
Keep rockin' !!

See ya...

Ho-ho-ho...

Hi again. This time I needed a 'rest' from the time absorbing process the ripping of vinyl really are to get them ready to blog (that said, I'm not VERY impressed by bloggers who don't even care renaming their files, just pour them out. Although well done and often appreciated, it means more work). So I dug out a few cd's for you to enjoy. Although I'm pretty sure most of you people might
have these already, or at least heard. Most of them. Can't say when my next blogging will appear, but I'll prepare a monsterblog for the Christmas to enjoy (I wrote this when I thought I had good time to get it done, well... I hadn't.). What's in it, even I don't know yet. If I manage to get my cassette
deck to play, it might even be a few really rare demos from earlier blogged artists, who knows. Wish you all rocking & happy pre-christmas days. A time of year where at least I more than often really need my escape into great & LOUD music, so CRANK IT UP, friends! See ya later.

.
First out, a minor classic. Legendary Fergy Fredriksen (Trillion, Toto, LeRoux) & Ricky Philips (The Babys, Bad English, Angel!) awesome 1995 release, including co-pilots such as Neal Schon, Deen Castronovo, Bobby Blotzer, Tim Pierce, Pat Torpey, Robim MacAuley and more. Hell, even a great norwegian backing vocal on some tracks here, Aina Olsen! How 'bout that. Love it!

American Henry Lee Summer, another artist and release that are NOT far away from the album just blogged (Frederiksen/Phillips), this sounding quite Journey'ish too, great pop rock AOR tracks all over! I've never heard or seen his first 2 albums before this one, I actually believed for years this was his debut, but that was not correct. (Anyone out there got these!? They're on my wish list. The same are his Slamdunk, Live, Smoke and Mirrors albums!). This is a GREAT album, and I'll share his two next releases ('89 & '91) later.
.
Musicians: Jimmy Rip, Anton Fig, Graham Maby, Mike Organ, Ed Roynesdal, Tony Aiello. His live band line-up at that moment, also consisted of Rick Benick & Mike Read (Roadmaster).

Sweden next, a 'supergroup' including Kee Marcello (Europe, Easy Action), Tobbe Moen (OZ), Freddy Von Gerber (Voodoo X, Rat Bat Blue, Bam Bam Boys) and Thomas Persson (Alien). Rockin' & kinda pop'n'bluesy with an opener that makes me think of Van Halen's classic Ice Cream Man. Definately cool stuff. Enjoy it.

If smooth, well played & produced commercial rock are your cup of tea, you better put the kettle on, then! A good album, and I won't name drop all the obvious and hidden influences here. If you're into this stuff, you'll find out. Some of the opening track simply screams Toto at ya. When I say smooth, it doesn't mean there's no rockers here, because there are both rockin' and funky stuff here. Well done. The members have previously done work with bands such as Brød & Cirkus (another awesome & rare pop rock AOR gem, with norwegian lyrics, I might blog that later), Diezel, Tin Drum, Embee Normann, Alarm (norwegian band), Justin Case, Rondo.

It doesn't get much better than this. Period. An album that stunned me right on, from start to finish, way back when I bought it. And a release with quite a special history. For a start, it's a trio - the drummer Eric Valentine produced it (a project to sell his abilities as a future big time producer). The bass player Dan Arlie wrote all the songs. And the guitarist Jeff Tyson, don't do ONE solo on the songs on this album. Not the conventional way for sure. If you haven't heard it, it's not easy to describe. But it's not entirely wrong to say hair metal. But very wrong too. It's SO much more. It's huge, big, creative, adventurous, well arranged sound pastiches that often have a movie soundtrack feeling to it. Filled with awesome hooks, harmonies, and hard and often funky grooves. It's arranged & recorded as a trio to be able to play it live, although it's so much happening vocally & instrumentally that you never think 'it's a trio, and it made the band very busy in a live situation and not much spare moments for the show. It was recorded and produced in a garage studio they build them self while developing the entire product. And when the company wanted a known Led Zep producer to lift it further, they got it back with something like 'What do you want me to do with this? It's perfectly finished'. The tragic thing is that it didn't sell enough to get a release of their second & started album. I've heard it exist, how finished I don't know, but... I would gladly offer a spare body part to get my hands and ears on THAT! In fact, make that my christmas wish for the rest of my entire life! I won't even ask if there's anyone out there who got it. I don't believe in that amounts of luck. But I'll pray for a rerelease with as much bonus tracks as possible! Not very likely, though...

Black Christmas...

Another blog based on my own vinyl rippings. I'd say the quality are good all over. A couple of quality requests from another blogsite, some black metal from the past, a treat for the Quo fans, and a new 'topic' - Mausoleum Records... you remember those in numbers in the
bargain bins around. I got my hands on quite some of those releases, but since I didn't listen a lot to that stuff back then, I don't know a lot 'bout them. So, I'll leave it for you to browse for the info yourself. To get this post up'n running today, I have to do it easy on the info. So, grab whatever you want, and have a good time!

MR. BIG
.
Earlier I've blogged their awesome debut album, 'Sweet Silence'. More info in the archives. Jeff Dicken, my all time vocal, writer & player hero. His few albums by Mr.Big & Broken Home are ALL among my best moments as a fan of good performed & played music. Anyway, here's a chance for you to hear it too, if you haven't already. They released 2 albums, and this 'Photographic Smile' album release contains more or less the half tracks from both albums. The good thing here is that my copy of 'Photographic Smile' are in a mint condition. Their second, 'Mr. Big', are not. But good sound anyway, with some bad scratches at the start of Side B that I couldn't get rid of in a few hours. 'Vampire'. I might try later, when having more spare time doin' this stuff. Awesome anyway, don't let that scare you to not have a listen... most people can't help but love it. Indeed true gems for the connoisseurs out there... :)

Monsterbloggin'...

Hi again. Been some time since my last blog. So it's about time for some more goodies. I think there's something here for most of you frequently visiting this site. Some more scandinavian stuff, some rock'n'roll, some NWOBHM, some punk and even some Country! Have fun. And don't forget to comment. That's the fuel for more to come.

.

While the majority of TNT played in the Vagabond project, they also made this great live in the studio album. First a Japan release only, then later released in Norway. Great live band too! Seen them live with different singers, the original Børge Pedersen, Jorn Lande, Bjorn Boge (Streel Legal). Years later, I saw Bad Habitz with guest Brian Robertson, and it was AWESOME! Enjoy it.

Bought this back then, nothing I ever had heart of, the cover made me curious, I liked the colors, and by those days standard, they looked like they rocked. Classic Power Pop. A bit new wave'ish, pop rock with some GREAT songs! The original of the wonderful 'Prisoner'. Also great on Uriah Heep's album Abominog. Love it.This album was hard to get on the net for quite some years. I know it's possible to find it now, on WinMX as separate tracks, and blogged. Anyway, I just made this rip from my old vinyl. I think it's a good one. If you haven't heard this album, here's your chance. Recommended.

TUFF DARTS
.
A kind of Sleazy powerpop rock with a punky approach, some great fun lyrics and tracks here! I've always liked this album a lot! I'm glad I finally got it ripped. Find more info on the band here
http://www.tuffjeffsalen.com/about_tuffdarts.html
.
trouserpress.com:
'New York's Tuff Darts will probably be best remembered (if at all) as a résumé item for Robert Gordon, who was the glam-punk band's original singer in 1976. Although he did record as a Dart on the Live at CBGB's compilation, Gordon was long gone by the time the band made an album of its own two years later. (The band was on hold for part of that time while guitarist/leader
Jeff Salen played with Sparks.)
The Darts — a junior-league rock band with a penchant for angster clothes — had a total of two good songs, both of which are included on the LP. Otherwise, the record ranges from simply bad to truly wretched, as on the moronic "(Your Love Is Like) Nuclear Waste.'
.
.
'A total of two good songs'!? I wouldn't bet on that. Great album full of classic rockers with touches of New York Dolls, Good Rats, Rolling Stones, just a lot more fun!

RESTLESS HEART
.

I know, I know, this is Country!! I'm not a big lover of Country myself, if it's not treated by artists as Jason & the Scorcers, the Beatfarmers or Del Lords, but really, there's some great songs on this good production! And some of the best one's are written by the hugely talented Van Stephenson (R.I.P.). I love the opener 'Let The Heartache Ride'. If you haven't heard this, and you like Van Stephenson, The Eagles or REO Speedwagon. Have a try! Rockin' Country Rock with tearjerkin' ballads.

JUICE NEWTON
.
Van Stephensons' (R.I.P.) involvement on the Restless Heart album made me think of another artist who did benefit of his great work. ere's Juice Newtons Bryan Adams/Van Stephenson penned single from 1984, from her most rockin' album 'Can't Wait All Night'. I might blog the full album later, if wanted. Fans of female fronted AOR pop will love this. GREAT single! The B-side, are also the title track on the album by Restless Heart, blogged today too.

TOAD THE WET SPROCKET
.
The mystery band from the first Metal For Muthas album. Never sounded very Heavy Metal to me, and a mystery why they appeared on that album, but I always loved that track, 'Blues in A'. Here's a single they released, and it's sounding way more trad NWOBHM, not very unlike Quartz, Dedringer etc.

Found & bought this 7" back then. Looked interesting, and the fact that it had 'Produced by Tom Allom' on the sleeve, just shouted Buy me!. Always loved this track! I don't know the story here, and I don't know what hapened, but the album never came. Waited for a long time for more from this very promising band. Anyone with more info?

SPLIT KNEE LOONS
.
A weird one. Really. I didn't split these files into seperate tracks, only as 'Side A' & 'Side B'. And I'll leave it to you to find out who's participating in this stunt. I hope you can read the scanning of the back side. Maybe not a single to play often or even appreciate. But if you're into older Gillan & Samson stuff, you might find some fun here. I'm sure the musicians did. May I guess a LOT of alcohol was consumed?
